Strong Public Support
A recent poll of 501 registered voters in Washington State demonstrates that the public strongly supports action to improve oral health.
- 89% agree that oral health should be part of well baby check-ups conducted by physicians.
- 81% favored encouraging schools to offer healthy food and beverage choices in addition to soft drinks and other items containing sugar sold on school grounds, 63% strongly favor this idea and just 17% oppose it.
- Water fluoridation is supported by a 2 to1 majority
- A majority of Washington voters believe that communities have an important role in reducing oral disease in conjunction with individual responsibility.
